Christmas greetings are a given but can I say a special thank you to you for the updates, messages etc? I was desperately disappointed to miss the yard visit due to my cataracts operation in August (wow, is that what the world really looks like??) but it was just a matter of priorities…. But your updates kept me feeling involved, belonging… and especially in those circumstances, that mattered. Thank you so much. Obviously I have renewed my membership and I really hope to get down to Jackdaws in 2022 and to see at least one of the horses run, somewhere, anywhere would be good!

Now we have reached the end of the first year of the club, I would like to add my congratulations to the many you deserve to have received for the way you have run it.
First years usually throw up problems no matter what the organisation, and we had a few, but you always kept us on side with your almost daily updates which must have added to all your other commitments. A lot of hard work which we must appreciate.
We can all be grateful for the dedication of everyone at Jackdaws Castle in making all forms of ownership such a great experience.

Hope you’re doing well. I just wanted to drop you a message and thank you for an amazing experience at the racing at Chepstow on Saturday. The racing club has helped make one of my best experiences at a racecourse, as the excitement of seeing When You’re Ready bolt up at Chepstow will forever rank as one of the best days I’ve ever had on track.
I wanted to thank you, the team and my fellow members for making that happen and ensuring it was a special day. Can’t wait to see what the next 12 months will bring, here’s hoping for more winners ! 🙂

Just a huge thank you to Roger, the team at Jackdaws Castle, Kevin Brogan for a brilliant ride and of course When You’re Ready for a superb run. WYR ran and jumped so well, but that jump at the last – as good as it gets.
I was lucky enough to be one of those there with an Owner’s badge and had a truly a great day out, all at what is probably my favourite racecourse and the sun was out!
I had passed the tip onto a few friends and the skittles team I play for (quite a few of whom were there). So I wasn’t the only happy person!
Looking forward to hearing what the next plans are.

We would like to thank you and the Jonjo team most sincerely for your courtesy and dedication during yesterday’s stable visit. It was well beyond our expectations and probably the highlight of our year.
Of course, the facilities are wonderful and picturesque but the overwhelming feeling that we took away was the enjoyment and togetherness of your whole team.
As I mentioned during our visit, Jackdaws Castle has always had a certain mystique from the outside and our future trips to the Plough will at lest benefit from our being able to say ……… “we have been in there”!
It was a pity that His Dream did not read the script and hopefully Jonjo will work the miracle soon.

Thank you Roger and all at Jackdaws for a super tour this morning (12/07). The premises are wonderful and the scenery is amazing. It was noticeable how calm and relaxed but hard working the staff are.
Roger, always full of stories and good humour but very knowledgeable about the horses and the yard, you were a super host. A great morning, Thank you.

Sorry it’s taken so long send this, But we have to let you know what a Greatday we had on wednesday, It was lovely to see behind the scenes at Jackdaws Castle. You and all the staff made us feel very welcome, lovely to see our 2 horses and able to feed them carrots ( which all the horses obviously loved). it’s such a great setting And watching them on the gallops in beautiful sunshine was an added bonus .Although Just Dream didn’t perform as we would have liked yesterday we couldn’t fault Phillip ride. we look forward to better results next time .

Thank you for a fantastic morning on Wednesday – it was great to see the horses and learn a bit more about them and to see the Club horses on the gallops. The sun was a bonus! You and all the team at Jackdaws made us feel very welcome and went to a lot of trouble to make it such an enjoyable event. The bags of carrots were a great idea and allowed us to get close to the horses!

Hope you’re doing well. Just wanted to say a massive thank you for having me at Jackdaws Castle today for the stable visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my walk around and learning more about the prestigious history of both Jackdaws and Jonjo.
As a first experience of horse ownership this has been the best possible experience, and I couldn’t have asked for more. The team at Jackdaws are very friendly and supremely talented at what they do, and their love and affection for the horses is clear for all to see. I would love to have the opportunity to visit once again later in the year, and potentially bring my dad along who has been an avid racing fan throughout his life.
Thank you again for today, and I would love to hear more about future ownership opportunities if any arise in the future because the Racing Club has really given me a taster that I would love to have more more involvement.

I’ve attached a few photos…I think a caption for the first could be ‘His Dream…our dream’! The horse looked wonderful and speaking to Jonjo jnr was very informative. The result may not have been what we hoped for, but there will be other days with greater success I’m sure.
The racecourse staff were most welcoming and helpful. I’d only been there once before and it was interesting to see the contrast without a ‘crowd’!

Two days on & the memories of a glorious day’s racing @ Bangor are still vivid. We were well looked after, felt perfectly safe & it was a joy to be back racing.
It was a pleasure to meet you, Jonjo jnr. & fellow Racing Club member Judy. Shame my betting with the only bookie on course was abysmal & His Dream struggled to rise to the occasion, but we all live to fight another day, unlike poor Tierra Verde…

Just wanted to thank you for a great day yesterday at Southwell. Both Neil and myself enjoyed our first experience as “Owners” with the Club. We were well looked after by the racecourse and the summer weather certainly did it’s bit to enhance the day. A special mention for Jonjo Jr., whose post race analysis was most informative. I hope the handicapper relents, and drops His Dream so that my next owner’s day will be a winning one. I will be eagerly anticipating a visit to Jackdaws as soon as we are permitted, and, hopefully, many more racecourse visits.

I was reading the update today and I was really laughing at the stories you put into the piece about Monica and Sea Pigeon, what a delight to read, he sounded like a real character.
I remember the days when he was running and at that particular time I followed and backed Jonjo quite a lot of the time. Happy Days!!
Anyway the updates you send are a real tonic and I love reading the articles regarding the goings on behind the scenes and everyday life for the staff, it was most interesting to read about the history and beginnings of Jackdaws Castle and I can’t wait to come on a visit.

I am absolutely loving this club. For several years now I have had shares in a couple of horses with the Owners Group. It has been a little disappointing but it was my choice.
The Jonjo club however is a different matter all together. I have been in touch with Tony about photos which we have never had the opportunity to do with the other club.
You are working very hard to keep us all happy with a daily newsletter and the photos so the world is rosey. Needs to be as I am self-employed and lost all my work since last March so you are cheering me up

The video of the trot up after When You’re Ready’s win was a great insight to the workings at Jackdaws & to see Jonjo give him the thumbs up even better!
It was great to be part of the Jonjo O’Neill Racing Club’s first win in those historic colours. A memory that will stay with me forever.

I have known and worked with you for more years than we should admit to. When you called me and told me about the club I was delighted to support you and Jonjo.
It’s a great way to get involved at entry level. When my favourite horse Monksfieid beat Sea Pigeon that day little did I think I would be involved one day in those famous colours in a small way.
I signed up and a winner arrived 20 minutes later! I am sending you my infilled in lottery ticket Roger.

I have always followed from the days of David Nicholson and Alan King to currently with Jonjo. It is such a brilliant set up in the most beautiful part of the Cotswolds.

Can I just say what an amazing result that was today. It was a fantastic race to watch and both horse and jockey showed their class and determination.
Myself and my close friend Alex Claybrook were both brought this gift for our 40th birthdays so after not being able to celebrate properly due to Covid this has been a fantastic present.

Thanks for keeping us informed. It’s good to feel part of what’s going on, both at Jackdaws Castle and in the world of horse racing generally.
It’s interesting to compare how racing is conducting itself compared to say football, where despite the terrible effects of covid players still persist in jumping all over each other and generally ignoring advice all the rest of us try to follow.
Fingers crossed for Leicester tomorrow and here’s hoping to meet up on a racecourse before too long!

The feeling of owning a racehorse is beyond exciting. We have had several winners during our time with Jonjo, the adrenaline when walking the horse into the winners enclosure is something I will never forget.
